In an outdoor ceremony May 27, 482 degrees were awarded to members of Colby's Class of 2018 at the College's 197th Commencement. U.S. Senator Susan Collins told the graduates to choose respect for civil discourse over divisiveness. Colby President David A. Greene handed a diploma to each of the graduates.

Select students have been named to the Spring 2018 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Coastal Carolina University Department of Music presented its 18th annual Choral and Holiday Concert recently at the First United Methodist Church of Conway. Directed by Timothy Koch, teaching associate in the Department of Music at CCU, students performed classic Christmas pieces as well as international pieces including Italian, Nigerian, French and Moravian carols.
Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Philip Nyhus has collaborated with students in two recently published papers. "Global patterns and trends in human-wildlife conflict compensation," coauthored with Jeremy Ravenelle '18, appears in the December 2017 issue ofA Conservation Biology, which is the flagship journal of the Society for Conservation Biology. The team "reviewed research on wildlife-damage compensation to determine geographic and taxonomic gaps, analyze patterns of positive and negative comments related to compensation, and assess the relative magnitude of global compensation payments."

Wofford's Interim is a time for exploration and experiential learning away from the rigors of traditional academic courses for students and faculty alike. More than 150 students chose to participate in internships and research projects during Interim 2016.

Colby-Sawyer College's annual Diversity Week celebration was held Feb. 3-7. Each day during Diversity Week Colby-Sawyer community members gathered in the dining hall for the Get to Know Me CSC campaign. The campaign celebrated individuals across gender, nationality, racial and cultural lines.
The Sophomore Experience is a fast-paced, conference-style event to provide students with the information they need to develop a plan for their remaining two years at Wofford College. The emphasis is on understanding their strengths and choosing an appropriate major for their interests and passions, and on learning how to secure internships and other real-world experience that will help them prepare for their professional lives. 93 students participated in this year's Sophomore Experience.
In support of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, 50 Colby-Sawyer College students participated in "A Night Without a Dorm" on Friday evening, Nov. 15. Organized by the Sociology Club and Campus Activities Board, the 12-hour event raised awareness about homelessness while collecting donations for the Concord Cold Weather Shelter.
